how can you make liquid hummingbird food.?

I have a hummingbird feeder in which I use store bought mix. I was wondering if I could make my own but I have no idea what to use.

1 part sugar/4 parts water

Boil the water first, then measure and add sugar, at the rate of 1/4 cup of sugar to 1 cup of water.

Let cool and store excess in refrigerator until ready to use.

Do not add food coloring, honey (which ferments), or artificial sweetener, which has no nutritional value.

You will need to clean your feeder every few days, with hot water and a mild (10%) bleach solution to inhibit mold. Rinse thoroughly before refilling with water syrup

1 cup of sugar and about 5-6 drops of red food coloring. Fill it up with water and watch them come. They like the bright red color.

Don’t waste money on store bought hummingbird food.

They love plain old sugar and water. A cup of suger, 2 cups of water, bring it to a boil then let it cool to room temperature. The boiling will help prevent it from separating out in the feeder.

1 part sugar to 4 parts water, food color is not necessary cause theres color on the feeders. anyway just boil the sugar & water til the sugar disolves, cool & feed. if you use store bought mix be sure to check to see if you have to add sugar, most do!
