  • Have a problem with Ants eating my hummingbird food?I even live on the 3rd floor!! I have the hummingbird feeder hanging off the railing. Ants are all over it and even drowning in it. So first question is what can I do to stop them? Second is that harmful to the hummingbirds? Ants They will find your feeder, unless you take precautions. Buy a driples
  • how much of the powdered hummingbird food to how much water? I have lost the instructions? Need to know what kind — but I agree its better to just make your own sugar water! Don’t use anything with coloring in it — its not necessary and most experts agree its not safe for the little guys!!
  • Hummingbird Food Preparation? My hummingbirds can really eat up the nectar in my feeders. I like to thoroughly clean each feeder before re-filling it. To simplify this process, I make a large batch of h-food (4 to 1 water to sugar) and freeze it in advance. I’ve found the 32 oz. cottage cheese containers hold the perfect amount

We were amazed at …
We were amazed at their aggressiveness. One we nick-named ‘Spike’ had a favorite perch on a spine in the pine tree, to protect “his” personal feeder. lol

Real nice my wife …
Real nice my wife puts out feeders for these birds as well.
While I may not share the same level of enthusiasm it was a nice vid and the hum of their wings brings back the feeling of being dive bombed on my front porch. Which I don’t mind.
