What the best placement for hummingbird feeders to keep out of reach of cats?

24 March, 2010 (07:41) | hummingbird feeders | By: admin

I’d like to attract some hummingbirds but there are a lot cats in the neighbourhood, can I place the feeders someplace to keep the safe. Or would it just be irresponsible to have them here?

I have mine hanging from the beams across the top of the deck and I have cats. The chances of a cat catching a humming bird are very slight indeed. They move incredibly fast. In 20 years of having the hummingbird feeders and the cats I have never lost a hummingbird. They are so wonderful to watch and if you keep the feeders in the same place year in and year out they will return to that exact spot where you have the feeder.

Hang it from your front porch if you have one. That is where I hung mine, but you have to watch for the bees they are attracted to the sweetness of the water. I know have mine hanging from a large shepherds hook.
